Being one of the southeasternmost islands in the Bahamas chain, San Salvador
is just twelve miles long by five miles wide and home to approximately 950
residents. Life on San Salvador is pretty much as unhurried as it has been
through the ages. It is still quiet, friendly and unspoiled with miles of
deserted beaches and lush underwater life that was discovered by scuba divers in
the 1970s.
Today, San Salvador is known world wide for the quality and diversity of the
diving. With over 50 dive sites to choose from -- we have a great variety to
keep traveling divers happy. Our normal daily visibility is in the 100 foot plus
range.
The Riding Rock Inn Resort and Marina
is dedicated to the comfort and convenience of all watersports enthusiants.
Located on the scenic San Salvador oceanfront, Riding Rock offers 12 standard
air-conditioned rooms and 30 deluxe oceanfront rooms, featuring telephones,
satellite color televisions and mini-refrigerators.
The resort features a freshwater swimming pool, tennis court,
marina, dive center and conference facilities. Especially popular are our
restaurant -- specializing in American and Bahamian cusine with an accent on
fresh fish -- and the Driftwood Lounge. Both provide a friendly, casual

Breakfast:
Breakfast is served from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. Fresh fruit, cereal, french toast,
pancakes, bacon and sausage are served to order or buffet style.
Lunch:
Lunch is served from 12:30 am to 2:00 pm. Conch chowder and fresh Bahamian bread
are served daily. Your choice of a meat or fish dish or a buffet style meal is
prepared. Cracked conch, grouper fingers, steamed conch, pizza and baked chicken
are some of the selections.
Dinner:
Dinner is served from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A garden salad and soup are served
with each entree. Your choice of meat or fish dish is prepared or a buffet style
meal. Grilled dolphin, roast beef, steamed grouper, stuffed chicken breast and
steak are some of the selections.
The Bar:
The Driftwood Bar is open from 11:00 am to midnight daily. Beer, wine, sodas and
a wonderful variety of blended island drinks are available from our expert local
bartenders. Satellite TV brings in the sports games from home. The management
sponsors two cocktail parties each week. Try the ring toss game or relax on the
open air patio overlooking a beautiful swimming beach.

In addition to our 18 oceanfront deluxe rooms we have 12 new
deluxe rooms in our one story buildings. An additional 12 pool side rooms are
now available. All rooms have air conditioning, telephone and satellite TV. The
deluxe rooms have a mini fridge, oceanview, patio with chairs and a writing
table and chairs. All rooms have tile floors and are serviced daily. Beach
towels are available at the laundry or the dive shop.
Scuba Diving in Riding Rock resort San Salvador Bahamas
The Riding Rock Inn Resort and Marina has a long tradition of
dive excellence which has evolved and improved since the early 1970's. With
shallow reefs rich with tame and friendly marine life, stunning water
clarity and more than 20 miles of dramatic vertical walls beginning in as
little as 40 feet, San Salvador offers a wealth of attractions to the
visiting diver.
To service the special needs of divers, the Riding Rock Inn Resort and
Marina features an impressive trio of custom dive boats, complete with deep
V-hulls, walk-thru transoms, dive platform with extended ladders, camera
rinse and protection from the sun. A modern dive center is located in the
marina complex, complete with air compressors, guest gear storage and a
spcaicous underwater photo center featuring daily E-6 film processing,
camera and video rentals, and a resident photo pro skilled in both video and
still photography.
Dive Operation Information: Boats leave the marina at 9:00 am each morning for a two tank trip. They
return to the dock around 12:30 pm. The dive boats leave for a one tank wall
dive each afternoon around 2:30 pm. Night dives are scheduled for Tuesday
evening. All dive equipment except for wetsuits, remains on the boats for
the duration of your trip, the crew gives everything a fresh water rinse
daily. Wetsuits and skins are hung up to dry in an outdoor area. Tanks are
80 cu ft aluminum compact 80's. These cylinders are 4 pounds heavier in the
water than a standard 80 and allow you to wear less weight on your body.
Divers leave gear out the morning after arrival for pickup at 8:30
am. Check in time for diving is 8:30 am the day after arrival and
certification cards are registered at the dive shop.
Visibility is typically between 100 and 150 feet and sea
conditions are usually calm. Most dive sites are in the lee and rough seas
are rare. The dive sites are almost all walls so the possibility of going
deep is always available. You need not dive deeper than 40 feet if you are
keeping a shallow profile. Generally the first dive of the day has
interesting things to see as deep as the 130 foot sport diving limit. Second
dives are more toward the top of the wall. On afternoon dives we try not to
exceed the maximum depth of the first dive to keep a conservative profile.
Dive computers are not required but are highly recommended. We do require
computer divers to have one per person as is a standard safety practice.
One of our divemaster staff, all of whom are instructors, is in
the water on every dive. You can take a guided tour of the hot spots of the
dive site or explore the wall with your buddy. Navigation is easy with great
visibility and a vertical cliff to follow. We usually have no current and
diving is relaxing. Check the water temperature chart for exposure
protection. Some of the major attractions are friendly groupers, passing
hammerheads and big cave and tunnel formations.

Riding Rock Marina
The full service marina facilities of the Riding Rock
Inn Resort and Marina include electric hook-ups,
fresh water, diesel and gas, showers and restrooms, ice, laundry room,
satellite televisions connections and of course protected deep water
dockage. Anglers from all over the world have
discovered the marine wilderness of San Salvador. World record blue marlin,
wahoo, dolphin, kingfish and tuna cruise the deep blue waters just minutes
from the Riding Rock docks. We at the Riding Rock Inn encourage the
philosophy of catch and release sportfishing in an effort towards
conservation.
Marina Information
Eight slips are available accommodating boats up to 140
feet with advance notice. All slips have 50 amp, 30 amp and water. Draft at
the marina entrance is six and a half feet at low tide.
A shaded picnic area is at the north end of the marina
and a beautiful sandy beach is just west of the slips. A fish weigh station
and lighted cleaning table is at the northwest corner.
A t-shirt shop and full service dive and photo shop are
located on the marina east side. Store hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Sunday
through Friday.
Fuel dock is open all year for diesel, gasoline and ice.
Local fishing guides and private charters are also
available for everything from blue water fishing to flats or bonefishing.
It is a two minute walk from your boat to the Riding Rock
Inn, a 42 room resort hotel with an oceanside bar and restaurant. The resort
also has a fresh water pool and tennis court.
